timeless manifesto

1. It solves my own problem

If the app doesn't improve my own life, I won't ship it. If it does improve my life, I must ship it.

2. It avoids dependencies

Each dependency makes the app a little less timeless. So avoid dependencies, especially 3rd party APIs.

3. It does one thing well

Timeless apps aren't enterprise apps. That's why they solve a very narrow problem very well.

4. It’s built to disappear

Timeless apps are designed to solve a problem and disappear from my life until I absolutely need to use it again.

5. It’s the anti social network

I already have enough apps that give billions of people the power to make a notification pop up on my phone if they really wanted to. I build apps that strengthen my relationship with myself and the handful of people who actually matter.

6. It's human-first, AI last

“Hmm, how do we use AI to get millions of people to stare at our app?" is a tempting question I would like to ask myself...never.
