keepsake app

Current Status: In testing (as of 10/29/2025)

The Keepsake App is dev-complete and currently being tested. It should be in the App Store soon.

The Story

I have around 15,000 pictures on my iPhone camera roll. Most of them are screenshots. When I think about it, I can probably categorize almost all my pictures into three groups: 1) Pictures I’ve taken 2) Pictures I’ve screenshotted 3) Everything else.

There are pictures from each of these categories that I want to keep and discard. How could anyone else or any AI decide that for me? I don’t want AI to decide for me. I want an app that simply lets me swipe through my pictures regularly so I can choose what to keep and delete everything else.

Historically, I’ve done this once every couple of years using random apps from the App Store. These apps always seem to do too much—or at least promise to. They detect duplicates (not a bad idea), show you how much storage space you could save, and claim to use AI to help you “cleanse” your camera roll fast.

But I don’t want to cleanse my camera roll fast or in an automated way. I don’t want my pictures going to any kind of AI.

My camera roll is sacred. I want to know what’s in it. I want to clean it thoughtfully. I don’t want to mass delete stuff. I want to manually go through my camera roll, one picture at a time, and decide if I want to keep or delete it. I want this to be a habit, not something I do once every few years.

I used to think I wanted this done for me magically. But it turns out I only felt that way because the apps I tried all felt bloated. They overwhelm me. They take forever to analyze all my pictures. So I’d end up choosing the “fine, just magically delete and clean up my camera roll” option so I’d never have to open that app again.

I don’t want any of what the current apps offer. Here's what I want:

1. I want to spend 5–10 minutes a week going through my pictures

2. I want my camera roll to feel less like a landfill and more like a physical photo album

3. I want to know with certainty that none of my pictures ever leave my device

That's it. I'm building the Keepsake App to help me do just this.
